I know it is Memorial Day Weekend and you may be looking for the right movie to watch that you can take the whole family. Look on further than the movie Blended starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Adam Sandler plays a widowed husband taking care of three daughters, while Drew Barrymore is a divorcee taking care of two boys. The two end up sharing a blended family vacation in South Africa for their children's spring break. The vacation was meant for Adam Sandler character's boss and his family. Even though many critics think this movie is crappy, I loved this movie!
I fell in love with the location of this movie, which is in Africa. All the negativity and disgrace Africa gets in the media, it was exhilarating to see a positive viewpoint of Africa. Secondly, I enjoyed seeing the luxurious and serene sites in Africa. Thirdly, I loved how the audience was able to relish on African culture values on family. The values on family are: sense of community, sense of good human relations, sense of sacredness of life, sense of hospitality, sense of sacred and religion, sense of time, sense of respect for authority and elders, and sense of language & proverbs. We, as Americans, have gotten so far off track when it comes to our families. We seem to be for ourselves and not for what will benefit for the family as a whole.
This film had me laughing from beginning to end. It made me see, it takes a community to raise a child and no one person can do it by himself/herself. It is okay to ask for help when you see someone has a trait that you are lacking. We, as a family, should communicate and not assume everyone is doing well. We also need to be there for the people in our families. We, as human beings, should be able to explore who we are as people and should not be afraid to talk about issues we are having with, like wanting to have sex or going through puberty. We should respect all religions and gain a deeper bond with our God every day. We should be more loving to people who need more love and help than we do at that moment. We should let nature take its course and not try to stop what will be. Lastly, we have to watch what we say to people and always be respectful and honorable to our elders.
The movie Blended is a great movie you can take the whole family to see. Your kids will definitely laugh and want to imitate the jokes from the movie. This movie gives a viewpoint of the 65% of American blended families and how they are growing daily. We need to get back to loving our families more! Blended also made me want to call my travel agent to book me an African Safari Family Vacation. All the actors in this movie did a great job. Go and buy your ticket now!
I give this movie:
